Southern Burgenland has a long tradition of apple growing: apples were primarily grown here as early as 700 years ago.
To meet the high demands of the market for different apple varieties flexibly, it is necessary to renew the orchards approximately every 12 years.
Each year, around 40,000 to 50,000 young trees are cultivated to replant seven to eight hectares of orchard area.
Hail protection nets covering the entire cultivation area and the option to irrigate all orchards from ponds protect the crops from extreme climate conditions and ensure consistent internal and external quality.
Harvest: Depending on the weather conditions and the ripeness of the apples, harvesting begins in early to mid-August. Using harvest wagons, the apples are picked exclusively by hand.
Sorting: The freshly harvested apples are transported in a water basin with drinking water quality and undergo comprehensive quality control. A precise analysis of their consistency and sugar content provides valuable information for determining the shelf life of each variety under optimal storage conditions.
Storage: Only hand-selected premium quality is packaged as needed — finally, our forklift drivers store the fresh produce in special cold storage facilities with a controlled atmosphere.
